MESSAGE FROM TOM

Tom Heneghan - CEO, Equity LifeStyle Properties

Another year coming to a close and another opportunity to look back and ahead!

We’ve decided to devote this issue to “bests” and I hope you will find it interesting. Also, I hope it prompts you to look back over this past year and highlight your own “bests”. And, I hope your list includes plenty of camping experiences with us!

We compiled our “bests” from several places, including our Facebook fan feedback, our TT rally groups, and our preserve managers and recreation directors. And certainly, if you would like to chime in, please feel free to send us a message at: TrailNews@equitylifestyle.com.

In reading through these stories I am especially touched by our preserves’ responses to our asking them to share a story that helps define “this is what it’s all about.” The camaraderie, sense of community and family certainly come across in these anecdotes. I’m glad to see that the stories encompass the range of our family, as well – from the 20+ years member to the newly-minted one.

Our members chose to spend private and personal moments with their extended Thousand Trails families. That really says something. A lot of the preserves’ stories refer to our unofficial motto “We are Family” and after reading all these stories, I don’t really think anyone can dispute that. We certainly are a family.

It’s also nice to see the highlights of the preserve projects and improvements. From upgraded pools, repaved roads and site revamps to brand new welcome centers, redecorated lodges, and activity center additions, the preserves have worked hard during 2012 to continue to make your experience at Thousand Trails all you expect it to be.

One thing I would like to highlight as a best of 2012 is our new TrailBlazer Network app. As we mentioned in our newsletter, several of our members are serving as beta testers and we are getting some good feedback. Our thoughts behind creating this application play into the “we are family” concept. This app is a way to stay connected to your camping friends even if you’re not at a preserve. The communication and camaraderie can continue through this great app. Keeping in touch is what it’s all about. So if you haven’t downloaded it yet, please do so. It’s a lot of fun! To learn more about the app, check out Pages 12-13 in this issue.

As for looking ahead, we are gearing up for another great year of camping for 2013. Here’s hoping you look back fondly on your 2012 camping memories and are already planning for another round of “bests” in 2013!

Happy Holidays!
