MESSAGE FROM TOM
Feel the need to really get back in touch with nature? Sleep under the stars? Relive your first camping experience?
We've got just the opportunity for you. Thousand Trails members can now tent camp, for free, at 14 Encore RV resorts and campgrounds. We are pleased to offer our members access to these 14 locations, representing some of the best tent camping to be had.
Pitch a tent along the Schroon River at Lake George Schroon in the Adirondack region of New York; or experience the majesty of Mt. Hood when you choose Mt. Hood Village in Welches, Oregon. If you're planning a trip to Disney, Sherwood Forest offers a peaceful setting and yet is just 4 miles from the Magic Kingdom. Explore Zion National Park while making St. George in Hurricane, Utah, your home base. Experience Maine and the charm of Bar Harbor at Mt. Desert Narrows or enjoy some Midwest hospitality at two Wisconsin resorts and one Indiana resort - see our complete list below.
From east to west and in between, there's plenty of options and plenty of locations. You bring the tent, we'll provide the views!
Our seasonal preserves are kicking into high gear, preparing for one of the biggest camping weekends of the season, and the unofficial kick-off of summer, Memorial Day Weekend.
If you've been following the News and Notes section in TrailBlazer you know that our on-site teams have been busy with updates including remodeled lodges and activity centers, spruced up landscaping, new roofs, decks and more.
I am also happy to report the opening of Rondout Valley! As many of you recall, Rondout was in the path of a major hurricane last year and required extensive repairs. I appreciate the efforts of our teams and the patience of our loyal members throughout this period.
When the creators of the Food Network hit, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives came up with the show, the concept was to be a road trip that was all about food. Sounds fun, right? As you travel to your camping destinations this summer, why not consider what's to eat along the way? This issue of TrailBlazer not only features an interview with the man that made Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives famous, Guy Fieri, but we also provide our own sampling of these wonderful eateries near to our preserves. We've compiled a list with a little help from our Facebook fans as well as our preserve managers. Next time you're visiting one of the preserves, make sure to check out the local fare!
On that note, I will wish you all a happy Memorial Day Weekend and we look forward to a fun-filled summer season of camping, family and friends, and of course, good food!
