Indianapolis 500

Billed as "the greatest spectacle in racing" the Indianapolis 500 has been thrilling race fans since 1911. The race itself is run on the Sunday before Memorial Day each May, and is actually the culmination of events held throughout the month, which include several parades in addition to the qualifying races to determine who will actually participate. The race is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana (just outside Indianapolis). The race attracts about 400,000 visitors and is said to be the largest one-day sporting event in the world. If you plan on attending, consider staying with us.

Thousand Trails offers Horseshoe Lakes (Clinton) less than an hours' drive while Indian Lakes (Batesville) and Diamond Caverns (Louisville, KY) clock in at just under a 2-hour drive. If you want to travel a bit further, consider Encore's Lakeside (New Carlisle) or Twin Mills (Howe) which are just about 3 hours distance from the speedway. Not a bad drive if you consider the race drivers cover over 500 miles in roughly 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
