Verde Valley

April 3-4 Children of all ages (including adults!) will gather to decorate and compete in our annual Egg and Rock Contest at the Pool Lodge while our secret Bunny hides eggs in the park for the Egg Hunt which begins at 4 p.m. "Dinner around the World" festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will feature international dishes from six countries. Plus, we are gathering items for our Christmas in July auction, so please bring anything you'd like to donate to the Recreation Office.

April 30-May 2 We will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with vendor craft tables for show and sell on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; plus we'll start the celebration with a Salsa Contest at 1 p.m. in the Cafe followed by a piñata for the little ones. Please bring a side dish or dessert.

Lake Minden

April 2-4 Easter Celebration starts with Friday night Potluck Social followed by Brown Bag Bingo; on Saturday we'll dye Easter Eggs in the morning and have our Annual Easter Ham Potluck Social in the evening. On Sunday the Easter Bunny will make an appearance for our Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Community Easter Egg Hunt

Egg hunt for ages newborn to 10 years, featuring 50,000 pieces of candy and 7,000 real eggs. Four separate fields will be divided for age categories. Admission is $1 per child. Held at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Avenue, Yuba City, just 20 miles from the preserve.

April 9-11 Puzzle Me This - Help us "puzzle" together a Potluck Social by bringing a gently used puzzle in a brown bag and we'll play a puzzling game of Brown Bag Bingo. On Saturday see if you can figure out the clues to a puzzling scavenger hunt. Feeling crafty? Then let's puzzle together a photo frame. Not puzzled enough? Let's play a puzzling DVD game.

April 16-18 Earth Day Celebration - Join us Friday night for Baked Potato Potluck Social and stay for Brown Bag Bingo. Take part in an Earth Day scavenger hunt and learn some fun facts about Lake Minden. Kids can make their own dirt baby.

Wear & Remembrance Vintage Apparel Fair
Clothing, accessories, hats, jewelry, shoes and handbags in endless variety for both men and women ranging from Victorian Era through the 1970s. Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located at 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City. Admission is $5

April 23-25 Skills and Thrills - Do you have a special crafting skill or hobby that you would like to teach? Do you have an interesting slide show or informational talk about your travels you'd like to share? Talk to the Recreation Director to schedule a class or sharing time with other members. Plus, make a spring flower broach in our Polymer Clay class. April 30-May 2 Cinco de Mayo - Hola Amigos! Bring your favorite nacho topping and join us Friday night for Nacho Potluck Social. Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with lots of Latin-themed activities, food and crafts. Show off your singing talents at afternoon karaoke. Make a festive pair of earrings in our beading class. Kids can help bust a piñata.

First Monday Trade Days

Held in downtown Canton, just 30 miles from the preserve, these trade days happen every first Monday weekend of the month. It is one of the largest trade days in the U.S. Everything from pets to trinkets can be purchased and the food is out of this world.

Known as one of America's great festivals, this event began as a way to honor the memory of heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.
