Mar. 20: Luck 'O the Irish be with ya! Look for shamrocks and Pot 'O Gold scavenger hunt, plus Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner at 1 p.m. featuring Celtic music.

Mar. 20-28: Oregon Spring Break activities include scavenger hunts, bingo, crafts, hula-hooping, sidewalk chalk art, bubble soaps, parachute game and Teen Scene, plus Whale Watch Week - watch for the mamas with their calves swimming north.

Whalers Rest

Mar. 20-27: Spring Break Week: On Saturday, we'll serve breakfast at the Whalers Galley at 9 a.m. Then join our manager, Shari, for the latest company news at the Manager's Social in the South Clubhouse. Set aside time to take your family to dinner at the Whalers Galley at 5 p.m. and finish off the day with a fun-packed evening of "Double Dare Fun" in the South Clubhouse at 7 p.m. On Sunday enjoy our ice cream social at 2 p.m. in the South Clubhouse and then it's Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon movie matinee on Monday at 1 p.m. in the South Clubhouse. Tuesday is jam-packed with stackers during the day in the South Clubhouse, plus Teen Night will rock our North Clubhouse from 6 to 8 p.m. for all kids 12-21 years of age. Wednesday is Family Day with Candy Bar Bingo, family game night and family craft time - all held in the South Clubhouse. On Thursday, form a band and practice rock band in our South Clubhouse to get ready for our Friday Rock-off. Check activity board for times. Insane and unforgettable Kids Extreme Play Night is back Thursday evening. Gather in the South Clubhouse for games, snacks and a great movie. Parents and grandparents can enjoy a quiet break! Friday is the Rock Band competition beginning at 1 p.m. in the South Clubhouse, plus we'll serve yummy banana splits. Who will take the prize this year? On Saturday, plan on breakfast in the Whalers Galley at 9 a.m., and then our Manager's Social in the South Clubhouse. In the evening enjoy dinner at the Whalers Galley and finish the day with Family Bingo fun, featuring free bingo with prizes, pop, and popcorn, beginning at 6 p.m. in the North Clubhouse.


Mt. Vernon

Mar. 13: St. Patrick's Day Celebration: Join us for a St. Patty's Day scavenger hunt as we search for a little green man and a pot of gold. Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner - sign up in the Ranger Station or call (360) 724-4811 for reservations.

2010 Paralympics

Paralympics are a multi-sport event for athletes with physical and visual disabilities. These games are also being held in Vancouver, which is just a short 1 to 2 hour drive from the preserve. For more information, visit




Mar. 13: Let's stay warm and cozy this weekend kicking back by the fireplace, playing some board games and working puzzles starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. In the evening, from 5-6 p.m., we will have Corned Beef and Cabbage to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Mar. 27: To recognize Vietnam Veterans Coming Home Day on March 30, we will hold a Nintendo Wii Bowling Tournament for veterans and their families beginning at 1 p.m. Special prizes for the veterans with the highest scores. Please take a moment to celebrate and remember all of our veterans for all they have done and continue to do - they are all heroes.

Lake Minden

Mar. 5-7: Wrapping up Winter: Can't wait for springtime? Neither can we! So let's get out and have some pre-spring fun. Join us for a round of putt-putt golf or a spring scavenger hunt. Is it still too cold for you? Bring your travel photos and let's turn them into cards or preserve them on scrapbook pages. Learns how to frame your photos with tea bag folded floral frames. Don't forget the Friday Night Potluck Social and Brown Bag Bingo.

Mar. 12-14: 2010 Olympic Fever: Watch the 2010 Olympics on the big screen TV or join us for Lake Minden's own Winter Olympic Game-a-Thon. Don't forget to wear green to our annual Corned Beef & Cabbage luncheon. Make a green spring bracelet. Friday night bring something green to the Potluck Social and a green prize for "Green" Bag Bingo.

Mar. 19-21: March into Spring: Take a break from winter and join us Friday night for a Spring Salad Potluck Special and stay for Brown Bag Bingo. Take a greeting card class and make Easter or other spring-themed cards. Put a little spring in your step as you walk around the lake in the fresh spring air. Not quite ready for spring? Watch the 2nd week of the Winter Olympics on the big screen TV.

Mar. 26-28: Skills and Thrills: Do you have a special crafting skill or a hobby you would like to teach? Do you have an interesting slide show or informational talk about your travels you would like to share? Talk to our Recreation Director to schedule a class or sharing time with other members. Sign up to learn the basics of working with polymer clay in a beginning polymer clay class.

Spring Home and Garden Show

The largest home and garden shown north of Sacramento features over 400 exhibitors covering all aspects of home, garden and recreation. Held at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds, just 20 miles from the preserve. For information call (530) 671-9600.

Palm Springs

Throughout March we offer guided trail rides for ages 8 and over and hand led rides for ages 7 and under. Saturdays we have wagon rides to the barn, plus Friday, Saturday and Sunday we serve a country breakfast in the Stone Lodge. Saturday evenings we offer a western-style barbeque.

Bay Landing

Mar. 12-14: St. Patrick's Day: This weekend is filled with the "Luck of the Irish" featuring green Jell-O sucking contest plus several other activities including a breakfast buffet complete with green eggs and ham and green pancakes. A Pot of Gold is hidden in the preserve for a lucky person to find. We'll have our annual Irish stew and cornbread.

Mar. 19-21: Rodeo Play Days: Yee-Haw! We had this event moved to March so all you spring breakers could enjoy it with us. All you campers passin' through come throw a cow chip, chug a little root beer, and join in our Little Buck-a-Roo Buckout. The weekend always winds down with a peaceful evening hayride. Good vittles from our chuck wagon (Leslie's Kitchen) will be available for all hungry cowboys and cowgirls.

Lake Conroe

Mar. 6-7: Spring Fling Weekend/Happy March Birthdays: Spring has sprung here at Lake Conroe! It's time to beautify the preserve by planting some springs flowers in the AC flowerbeds and doing some spring-cleaning. Afterwards we'll have an ice cream social at the AC and we'll celebrate March birthdays.

Mar. 13-14: St. Patrick's Day Weekend: Come and Go Green with us at Lake Conroe. We'll be making some leprechaun crafts at the AC and we'll have a scavenger hunt too! Can you find the Pot 'O Gold? Come make a wish and kiss our Blarney Stone and join in on lots of leprechaun fun!

Mar. 20-21: Rodeo Weekend: Yee Haw! We'll have some rip-roarin' rodeo fun! We'll have barrel races, a campfire sing-along at the fire pit, a ropin' contest and much more! Be sure to wear your western wear this weekend. Come along lil' doggie! Mar. 27-28: Trail Dust Weekend: Come one and all! We'll be having a BBQ Cook-off and a Best Beans contest. Come play horseshoes or "hay bale" horse races. We will be "a needin" judges for our cook-off and if'n you're interested...sign up in the AC.

Lake Tawakoni

Mar. 12: Our preserve officially opens its 2010 season. March weekends will be full of fun and activities with games and tournaments scheduled each week. St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated Mar. 20 with "green" activities and a spring cleanup. Monthly schedules are posted at each bathhouse and all lodges.

Mar. 5-7
First Monday Trade Days

Held in downtown Canton, just 30 miles from the preserve, these trade days happen every first Monday weekend of the month. It is one of the largest trade days in the U.S. Everything from pets to trinkets can be purchased and the food is out of this world.

Lake Texoma

Mar. 6: Birthday Bingo Weekend

Mar. 13: St. Patrick's Day Weekend, with entertainment by Trey Houston, plus Club Blazer events.

Mar. 13-20: Spring Break Week: Frisbee Tournament and rice art on Monday; Pool tournament and sand art on Tuesday; Watercolor painting and soccer or touch football on Wednesday; on Thursday come and enjoy the preserve on a nature walk and then make an Easter craft and enjoy a movie; on Friday we'll have Wii tournament, plus a campfire (weather permitting); please bring your own hotdogs and marshmallows.

Mar. 20: Rock-n-Roll 50s Weekend featuring a drive-in movie, plus Club Blazer events.

Mar. 27: Movie & Game Weekend includes Wii tournament, ice cream social, RV Chat and Club Blazer events.

Medina Lake

Mar. 6: Tournament Day: Tournaments scheduled throughout the day, along with cake and ice cream to celebrate March birthdays and anniversaries.

Mar. 13: St. Patrick's Day celebration: All-day craft sale, plus bike and golf cart parade, pool and Wii tournaments along with a scavenger hunt. Youth Shut-in in the Activity Center begins at 8 p.m.

Mar. 15-19: Spring Break begins! Top of the Trails Cafe will be open for breakfast during the week and Holly will have a special recreation schedule just for the kids.

Mar. 20: All-day craft sale, plus hayrides, lawn games, and pig races. The ever-popular Medina Prize Game is scheduled for the evening.

Mar. 27: Wacky golf and shuffleboard tournaments during the day and Game Night/Social in the evening.

Mar. 27 & 28
Texas Men's State Chili Cook-off and BBQ Championship

This Texas tradition is fun for the whole family. Cook-off participants will begin Friday evening along the Pedernales River at their campsites. On Saturday, vendors from throughout the county and state will offer treats and treasures while the cooking continues. Activities include cow chip shuffleboard, and domino tournaments. Admission is free. Come early to judge or taste the chili made by contestants. Sponsored by CASI, event is held at County Fairgrounds in Johnson City, 50 miles from the preserve. Lake & Shore

Mar. 19-21: Scrappers Weekend: All day scrap. Bring your scrapbooking supplies and scrap away in the Beachcomber.



Mar. 5-7: Look Back Weekend: Let's remember times gone by during this retro weekend and enjoy the Led Zeppelin experience with the Hammer of the Gods band at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsberg.

Mar. 12-14: Luck of the Irish Weekend: Do you feel lucky - try some of our games or how about a trip to Mt. Airy Casino? Wear green for good luck.

Mar. 19-21: Costume Carnival: 27th Annual Costume Carnival at Shawnee Mt. Free lift tickets to those in costume.

Mar. 26-28: Testing 1-2-3: Let's have some fun and see if you can recognize some familiar tastes -while blindfolded. Prizes to the big winner.
